Would you say that a 2004 mid-rise building (15 floors) in Tokyi is safe? I’m doing my best to understand about materials and earthquake resistance structures but maybe you happen to know more and have more experience already! Thank you! japan

The taller the safer. I was in one like that during our 9.0 quake in 2011. It was a wild ride but no damage. My wife was on the 43rd floor and felt a gentle sway. Our second floor apartment was absolutely destroyed. Looked like it had been turned upside down and shaken.
