If hierarchical non-monogamy doesn’t exist bc of material constraints like, ‘I only have time for a casual dynamic outside my 1° partnership due to work and health issues,’ I’ve found *in my experience* that it exists in-part due to abandonment trauma: a fear that if your partner builds other romantic connections as-intensive as yours, you’ll be left behind. Hence the need to consent to all relationships they’re romantically involved in.
