It feels like the politics of fear has won out over the politics of hope. It feels like people have put their own self interest ahead of other people's human rights. It feels like what has been a 60 year plus move towards a more understanding society has started moving backwards. It would be easy to think of this as just an American trend, but it's not, it's worldwide. It isn't everyone though, there are plenty of us who stand against misogyny, racism, homophobia and transphobia.
