This statistic may be technically accurate, but it’s inflated and doesn’t tell the full story. What many men may not realize is the deep-rooted fear that many women have of men—particularly after experiences of being dismissed by authorities. As a survivor who reported an assault only to be told by police that it “didn’t happen,” I know firsthand how invalidating and retraumatizing these experiences can be.
