Check out the book ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death’ by Neil Postman. Published in 1984, he talks about how TV is dumbing down education and the public because TV by necessity has to be entertaining and streamline information into smaller, overly-simplified portions. His arguments are 100x more applicable to the internet. We are absolutely getting dumber and more susceptible to appeals to pathos.
