I wish I was shocked. That would make me a less cynical person. But I'm not. America, for all of its alleged great qualities, has consistently made the worst possible decisions before eventually and reluctantly doing the right thing. I'm not here to give pep talks. But I am here to say that I'm in this fight for the long haul, and I need you with me. I'm not going anywhere. This is my fucking country too, and I'll defend democracy to the death. We'll get through this together.
