Do you know that back in the old days,we didn’t say 你 (nǐ) for “you” but 尔 (ěr)?
“你” is a relatively modern character compared to ancient ones like “人” (person). In older texts, “尔” (ěr) was often used to mean “you,” but in modern Chinese, “你” became the standard informal pronoun for “you.”
