Can any medical provider in FL explain something to me? If a woman presents with a non viable fetus past the 6 week limit - let’s say 10 weeks - , would your typical physician go ahead with moving it along or wait ? And if they did it without the woman’s life in danger, what would happen? prochoice

Typically they would do everything they can to care for the mother and the baby. They would try to keep the baby in as long as possible, most likely giving him or her medication of some sort to speed up their development. If the mother’s life is not in inherent danger, they would continue like that until the baby was developed enough to be delivered and go to the NICU. I believe that is 21 weeks gestation. If the mother’s health is in danger from being pregnant, they will do an early delivery.

And do their best to save the baby. If the baby dies amidst the attempts to save him/her life. Then they have done all they medically can do to save the baby and the baby was not meant to live. This is something that can be done that is humane for both the mother and the baby without bringing abortion into it. With abortion the delivery process would have been the same, except they would be taking the extra steps to ensure the baby’s life ends. Completely unnecessary steps.

This way the mother’s life is saved and the baby was given his or her absolute best chance at living. Even if he or she did not make it in the end, he or she was given their best chance.
