Generally most treat having a backpack as precious cargo and will go easy but I have a friend who jumped on the back of this guy's r1, he crashed it and she got seriously hurt. This ain't a car, you bail at speed even in full gear you are going to get hurt. Riding backpack is only as safe as the one controlling the throttle.
