I grew up in the Midwest. But, I’ve been California for all of my adult life. This state was home I wanted to be in, while staring at all those corn fields. So, I guess my gut reaction to that response was “hell no”, thinking it meant someone who had never lived through the ebbs and flows of California. Still not sure what the poster meant - especially about “they”. But anyone who loves California is in my heart. Including my friends who are trapped in red states for reasons out of their control
