1. Tim Walz is only Governor for two more years, though he could run again. There’s ample opportunity for other high quality Minnesotans to run as well, so it’s not the worst situation. We are known for electing blue collar politicians, and our legislature is a working one.

You will have to call caseroles hot dish and duck duck goose is called duck duck grey duck. Weird I know but it’s the price we pay to live here.

She’s not kidding about difficulty making friends as a transplant. Unless you’re pounding the bars you’re going to have a rough time. There are transplant groups you can join. A popular saying here is, “A Minnesotan will give you directions to anywhere but their house”. Minnesota nice is also a thing: polite niceties to your face, but actually not so nice in reality. I’ve lived here for 15 years. It’s a great state. Just don’t expect an instant in with ANY friend circles. It doesn’t happen.

Keep it quiet that we also have a really solid public education system. And the second strongest nurses union in the nation leading to better health outcomes. Shhh!!!!

I’m an east coast transplant the weather here in the arrowhead is nothing compared to the east coast. have been in the cold for most of my life. The damp, horrible bitter cold of the NE does not compare to cold in Minnesota. Cold weather in MN is dry & crisp. I wear sweats, jackets & regular shoes even when it’s -40 (been here 8 years). In PA when it’s 26 above I wear Carharts & boots, everything I can find because it’s bone chilling dampness that makes your bones ache. Give me MN every time.
