Wanna know a secret? I've spent the last year greeting and onboarding every new member of my medical school's pediatric department. So every staff scientist, postdoc associate, researcher, etc. A bigly amount of them are coming in internationally. In talking to these folks, inevitably we discuss why they came here for their position and what their plans are for the future. Do you know what they tell me every single time? 1/2

European countries, South American countries, Central and Eastern Asian countries. Doesn't matter where they're coming from. The economy, the pay, and the opportunities in the US are second to none. This isn't a dunk on other places. I'm saying this because it is apparently a secret to a majority of Americans that our economy is doing so much better relative to others in our post-pandemic reality. 2/2
3 小時內	Tony Wang tonyinsd	I believe that a German CEO recently said that there's no way any European company can compete with an American one when it comes to efficiency. Sure, perhaps the halo is tarnished now versus being shiny in the 60s when my parents immigrated here legally. It's still a halo. I'm not going to pretend America is perfect but you don't see too many people making the reverse journey to Cuba or Venezuela.
