Well I did a bit of resistance today. I had to give a room full of 20-something boys the Talk about how tariffs work - twice. They all knew what tariffs ARE. Unsurprisingly, none of them knew how they WORK (for the record, none of these boys were Trump voters; most abstained from voting, which seams to be the Seattle version of “Gen Z Trump bro”). First, I had to explain to them that knowing what something IS doesn’t mean you know how something WORKS. That was a weird lightbulb for them. 1 of ?

幾秒內	Miguel Arbusto mastereridax	Once they understood that difference, I had to walk them through how tsrrifs work - like when they’re actually paid (when goods arrive at customs) and by whom (the importer) and why that drives up costs (it’s passed along to the consumer). It’s very similar to sales tax - it’s a direct tax that’s passed on by sellers to buyers. What…shocked me, I guess, was that this is all pretty basic stuff, but even so, it had to be spelled out in this way. Like the actual transactional steps. 2 of ? tariffs
