Just following here, as a white mom to a mixed daughter, who is sometimes struggling a bit with where she belongs. We are Danish and live in Denmark, where she is definitely seen as a black girl, but in her father's African home country, mixed kids are usually referred to as "white kids".
But then again, the African people living here will see her as black.
I've told her she belongs in both communities equally, but culturally she sees herself as a brown skinned Dane, I think.
