My PhD research focuses on the women of the Nashville country music community. So I'm writing about issues of gender bias, equality and parity in the music biz, gender and racial discrimination in the conservative south and social and technological change since the 1990s. I'm lucky to have been back and forth to Nashville on fieldwork for my study, and have interviewed 50+ artists, industry execs, historians and journalists for the study.
