One of the reason why Hanzi is so interesting is because each character has its own story. If you liked detective story growing up, i think you will love Hanzi as much as I do. Take 数学 for example, “Maths” in English. If we break down 数学 we can see radical 娄 that contains two characters. These characters in 娄 shows a story of woman who is trapping fish in a net. Isn’t it amazing how early societies in China already associates Maths with activities of foundational maths?
