Women of our mother’s generation expect us, their daughters, to set aside our self-respect and self-worth. My mom expect me to do the same. If someone insults us, makes us feel small, or disrespects us, they want us to behave exactly as they did: to ignore it, become a doormat, and not utter a word. That’s the worst. As women, we should push each other to never tolerate disrespect, to walk away from places where we are not valued, and to give those who insult us a taste of their own medicine.
