*whispers* Amazon sells books and KU at a loss because they expect you to purchase more than just books from them. If you stop purchasing other items and only purchase books - you are COSTING Amazon money and still getting your fav authors paid!

This is true for now, but it's only a matter of time before Amazon changes their policy on how much folks get paid. That's how it was with selling used books. They gradually started taking higher and higher percentages until it wasn't worth it as a seller.
