I’m a 42-year-old gay man. I have spent the majority of my life hearing people say that “gay issues are going to cost us elections“. Literally my entire childhood and into my 20s that was the line. The solution, of course, is to address, prejudice, and help people overcome it. More of us coming out, and others coming out as visible and vocal allies and advocates for our communities. That is the path. Capitulating to bigotry is never the solution.
