I posted on my personal Facebook a few days ago that I am terrified about the proposed dismantling of the Dept of Ed because I have a 2E kiddo. His 504 protects his gifted status from his ADHD that makes certain tasks exceptionally difficult. Comments from there were like “they’re not planning on doing that”, “our teachers deserve better wages”, “they won’t stop a kid from graduating because he didn’t take a test when he didn’t live there” and others. We are also a mil-family so we move.. 1/4

Baselines are necessary for us, interstate compacts, federal regulations, etc. the fed isn’t paying your teachers, your state is and if you think they’re going to “do the right thing”, you’re wrong. That’s why that department exists already. The only thing stopping your teachers from getting deserved increases, is your own state government. Eliminating a federal income tax isn’t gonna get them a raise, it’s going to increase your state taxes, sales taxes, property taxes, etc. 2/4

Also was active duty for 20 years. My son experienced education failures at several schools, and only succeeded at small, rural based schools with less than 50 students per grade. You have to be ready to deal with what hi life will be like when he is a young adult. Once he reaches a certain age, depending on where you live,
