For folks yelling about how 1,200 calories is too low for any adult..... I am tall. I am muscular. I am active. My base calories (RMR) are around 1,500. Settle down.

Why would you want to eat below RMR?

When I was eating 1500 Calories a week I was dropping more than 2 lbs a week. 1200 is way too low. My baseline as a 5’5, 140-ish lb woman is around 1950 kcals.

1200 kcal is enough if you’re a 25 lbs toddler.

Correct. Calories really do matter. I calculate them. Pilates instructor & past gymnast & frequenting gym (weight training included) since 13. Average daily hours active (working out not teaching) in gym/pilates studio +3. Steps daily over 10k. If I eat over 1200 calories, for longer than a week, I gain. To be fair, the day I eat 1500 the next days the scale is up to 3-4 kg more. Weight training, steps, pilates, clean eating but over 1200 cals, on scale over 1-2months can be up to 7-10kg.

Everybody’s body is different, there really doesn’t exist a true standard for everyone. I’m 23, female, 5’5, 97lbs. I don’t count calories but whenever I add them up for fun, it’s rare that it ever comes out less than 2500. I’m not very active. Genetics play a huge role. I know some people three times my size that couldn’t eat even close to what I eat without gaining. At the end of the day you must do what works for you and not worry about what others tell you.
