In everything I’ve ever written if I delete a part I just cut and paste to the very bottom or a diff document for that specific purpose bc I never want to lose something I’ve already gone through the pain of writing and may end up wanting. My brother, a very successful journalist, told me he does the same thing, so I think this tactic is approved!
