My three year old uses quite a lot of words and can express himself, but his words are very unclear and often he isn’t understood by others. He also just uses just one syllable from a word often, usually the last syllable. I wouldn’t have been too worried because I understand him, but everyone else (daycare workers, family) are concerned.
