It absolutely grinds my gears when I hear western YouTubers pronounce Xiaomi as “Shiaomi”. The name Xavier is not pronounced “Shavier”.

8 小時內	🐇 honeydew.melancholy	The best that I can explain is that“x” in madarin is like replacing it with a very tight, thin “sh” like you’re sucking air in through your teeth. Whereas “sh” in mandarin is like the “s” in “sure”.
