Give Johannesburg its props; Cape Town is beautiful but as someone who was raised in the hood and black culture - Joberg fulfills me in ways that only going back home can. A Mecca of Black Excellence resides here if you’re willing to bypass the noise about the fear and other fluff.

I’ve heard more coloureds use the k-word more than whites here. It’s not an encouraging place to be your aunthentic black self. I wore my Afro to school for picture day and my coloured teacher said I should go to the bathroom and fix my hair. I asked her what’s wrong with my black hair!
