I cried – which made her pause until I managed to explain through tears that it was pure relief, the sweet release of knowing I get to keep this safe space, keep seeing her. I think I saw her tear up too, that gentle recognition between two people who understand what's at stake.

I work as a caregiver. On my first day, in the first hour, with a patient they asked me flat out who I voted for. Our training says we are not to discuss politics with patients and we're in a red state but I answered honestly that I voted for Harris. They were, fortunately, pleased with my answer. I found out later that they were asking every single person sent to care for them that question. I think that's fair!

I kind of already knew that my therapist wasn’t voting for Trump just based on the philosophy he preaches in our sessions, but I too “had to ask”. I also took the word vomit route, and my therapist has never once interrupted me in the 10+ years I’ve been seeing him... he stopped me mid sentence and said, “you’re not crazy for being scared of a cult”. Words can’t describe what I felt hearing those words.

I sincerely feel bad for all of you CRYING over the election. Grow tf up.
