It seems to me that I was raised by people who instilled in my generation the idea of taking responsibility for our shit. And somewhere along the line that narrative shifted to teaching kids to blame everyone else for their shit. Is this what participation trophies did? Or is this what the people who were angry about participation trophies did? I’m honestly not sure.
