So many apps can translate voice to text in real time! Esp with AI. I've been to 65 countries, there is no way I speak the local language in each of them or expect the local people to know English. I do just fine despite some frustrating moments.

Google translate with the relevant languages downloaded for offline use can be useful. But English will get you very far, at least in SE Asia. As a native speaker(?), think about simplifying your sentences. E.g. instead of “would it be possible to make arrangements for a couple of motorcycles tomorrow?” just ask “Can I rent two motorbikes tomorrow?” By all means try the polite flourishing way first, but if you don’t get through, “dumb down” instead of shouting it louder :-)
