I'm working on a BBC Micro. Took it apart and found this: a BARE METAL BODGE WIRE floating in air. Reading the history of the machine, I'm not surprised. "The machine only worked when we touched the CPU. So we just put a resistor pack there. We don't know why this fixed it."
