If universities are shifting to a true meritocracy by reducing or removing DEI policies to ensure everyone is evaluated based on individual merit, shouldn’t legacy admissions be reconsidered too? Legacy preferences give students an advantage based on family connections, not personal achievements. If we’re aiming for a fair, merit-based system, doesn’t it make sense to question legacy admissions alongside other policies? Curious to hear your thoughts on this!
