This might be a hot take but there are times that we should really stop sacrificing themes of stories in games on the altar of “player choice.”
Ex: I don’t think I, the player, should have had an explicit say in Wyll’s big choice in BG3. Personally, I would favor an approach that allows for my previous choices + my relationship with Wyll to be the determining factor, over making that choice for him so explicitly when his themes are so about autonomy and hard choices.
