I'm from Bayamón. I learned English watching The X Files with closed captions and a dictionary. First book in English I ever read was Dreamcatcher, then Rose Madder doing the same thing. The Chicago University Dictionary always side by side with the book. Probably took me like 8 months to read each one of those books. S. King was definitely massive in me learning English.
