Ok, weird question: Has anyone ordered a bottle of wine at a fancy restaurant? If you don't finish the bottle, do you take it with you? Or stay until it's gone?? I don't drink wine or go to fancy places, so I don't even know.

You leave the wine if you haven’t finished the bottle.

i was a bar manager for a high end restaurant awhile ago - we would put new stoppers in the bottle and put it in a “doggy bag” which was sealed shut. so if they got pulled over, they can’t get in trouble for “open” liquor, unless they broke the seal that we put on.

We always take unfinished wine home with us. Never had a problem with any restaurant. If you let them know when it’s served they will give you the cork.

In America different states have different laws. Some allow you to cork and take, and some it is illegal to do so.

I used to work at a medium fancy (set menu, etc) and it depended on the situation and the customer. Unless it was an uncorked bottle (illegal to carry in public where I am) for the most part if we didn’t see you leave with it, you didn’t.

I’m sure the questions has been answered but I work at a steakhouse! We just re-cork the bottle and are required to seal it shut somehow (in a bag or with some tape), and you can take the rest home!

I used to work at one and tuck the cap/cork into the ice bucket just in case - you paid for it, of course you can take it with you!!

My mom and I got a bottle of wine at Olive Garden (real fancy stuff, ik), they put it in a specific sealed bag when we didn't finish it so it didn't count as an "open container" for the drive home.
