Do this all the time. Hell, last year we had opposite windows seats in an exit row, and no one else sitting with either of us. Flight attendant asked if we rather sit together and we both couldn't get the "no" out fast enough. She got a good laugh out of that 😂

Married 37 years here, I can’t understand the couples who absolutely have to sit together for a flight. There’s something wrong with your relationship if you have to be that close all of the time

I recently moved my folks to better seats on a flight and sat them across the aisle. People kept asking me why they weren’t sitting together… I’m like “it’s been 35 years and my Mother doesn’t need another middle seat for 9hrs!” They loved it. It’s not like they sit and chat all flight anyway. Plus I kept feeding my Mum drinks and my Dad had no idea! More fun for all.
