Does anyone know why European eggs are orange yolked and they are yellow in America?

Colour additives in the feed. By altering the dye, you alter the yolk colour.

So this is weird, because here in Germany the yolks are usually orange, and yes the eggs are unwashed and not refrigerated. But just lately I bought BIO eggs, which suggests better living conditions for the hens, and the yolks of those eggs were yellow. So I thought „does it really have to do with anything?“ 😄
