One of my biggest *American deprogramming moments* since moving to Sardinia was when my Dad visited me and brought a large zip lock bag full of his various prescription medicines and said "This is what happens when you get old". I looked at my much older Sardinian in-laws and realized that none of them, including my husband's 78 year old grandma, take a single daily prescription medicine. Poor health is not simply "what happens when you get old."
