Because I do everything and he chills with the kid for 4 days a month. Even when we were married I did absolutely everything for the kid.

Why do men call themselves single fathers when all they do is pretend to parent every other weekend? Seems like babysitter would be the correct term.

Because we're mother's and we are single. Just like he's a dad and he's single.

People didn't want to change the definition until recently. But why change it. She's single and is a mother. It has nothing to do with whether the father of the child is active.

I'm a solo parent. I never say single mom because it's, to me, more indicative of relationship status, not parental status. And it doesn't even cover what it's like to be the only parent; most single mothers I know still usually have baby daddies doing something, even seeing kids once a year is something.

I am lucky that my ex husband is a great dad who does way more than his share with our kid- with the help of his wife who is great to my son… Which is why he isn’t called a single father anymore. I’m a single mom running my own career, bills and household -alone. Being a single mom doesn’t make my child fatherless. It’s a descriptor meant to highlight the challenges of single parenthood.
