My theory holds that huge price increases have been mostly on manufactured snacks and ready meals, which are optional purchases, rather than on the actual food people need. Also, there's no "shrinkflation" on normal food because a pund remains a pound and fruits and vegetables are the same size. So the people complaining about huge increases in their grocery bills are choosing to pay higher prices and manufacturers are setting prices according to what pepeople will choose to pay.
