The doctor today gave me a long spiel about diet and losing weight, basically saying I need to lose weight and lower my cholesterol. Her advice was the old standards - less red meat, less egg yolks, less butter, nothing fried.
But the evidence I've actually seen on these foods re their impact on cholesterol is mixed. For example, studies have shown that substituting white meat for red does not improve cholesterol markers. (CHORI study from UCSF)
