I think some gay men are more comfortable with films that deal with Coming Out because they can view the film through the prism of their own success; they’ve come out, they’ve accomplished the goal of the film. Gay audiences tend to be much more prickly when a film deals upfront with all of the mistakes, struggles, failures, and insecurities that exist in our post-Out lives.
