I always thought the same thing when I was younger. When I hit 50 I took my first cruise and here I am 20 cruises later and wishing I could move aboard permanently! It’s like everything. It’s for some and not for others. Me? I hate football. But that’s me and others think it’s the bees knees. Try it and make up your own mind.

They appeal to a very certain type of traveler. I went on a three-day cruise years ago and hated every minute of it. It was like a fraternity party in a low-budget Las Vegas hotel.

Went on the Baltic cruise, saw 5 countries in 9 days. Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Russia. No flying airport to airport, no taxis to downtown, no checking in and out of several hotels. No idea what your issue is?

Unpacking once. Sitting on the balcony gazing at the ocean. Binoculars handy. Whale spout. Whale tail. Flying fish. Orca pod. Sunset. Coffee on the balcony. Dining in room or on the balcony. Lots of places for a good cocktail with atmosphere and a view. Delicious food and good service. Sit at a two top or group table. Engage in conversation with others. Or not. Don’t have to get off the ship in port. Stay onboard and enjoy the serenity. Size of ship and demographics matter. Do research.

Only way to wake up in a different country everyday and go scuba diving or snorkeling at that cost. I took a 10-day last month that took me to 4 different European countries. Impossible to do that any other way for $1,000 plus food and drinks. The food is sometimes hit or miss but it’s never bad. if you don’t like it, send it back and order something else…no additional charge. We’ve been on 20+ cruises and never been sick. Not for everyone but for $$ , it’s a great way to see the world.

It’s the thought of being in close quarters to all the other people that puts me off.

Calm down! If you don’t like cruising then don’t! Why do you feel the need to insult those of us who enjoy them? I love the ocean and never find it boring or monotonous. I do my best contemplating and writing while on the sea. 🤷‍♀️

I love being able to see 4 countries in 7 days. I love not having to worry about where to eat dinner or how to get to the entertainment district. To each their own, but I love crusing. Some people go to Disney every year so go to the middle of the woods. Everyone can vacation how they want.

Being out on the water on any vessel is a top 3 happy place for me
