My accountant friends can you possibly help me. If you collect Social Security early at 63 and your spouse is still working and has a regular income. Let’s say for arguments sake you were going to collect 3000 for Social Security. And let’s say for arguments sake, your spouse makes 100,000 a year, I know that Social Security is combined with an income. How much are you taxed? I think it’s crazy that you need to pay taxes on Social Security but I’m just trying to figure things out.

3 小時內	Leslie Manley lesliemranch	They will deduct taxes before you get your check, roughly 15-20 percent (my experience). What is the biggest issue is when you file taxes, at that point you may have to pay depending on your deductions etc. Also after that first year tax return, SS may increase what they take out because at that point they will have better access to joint income information. If you also have 401k/IRA money, plan on SS being taxed (unless Trump can get that stopped) and paying for a lot for Medicare.

11 小時內	Viera Masih Gossai gossaiviera	SS is independent of any other additional income. You pay tax on 85% of your SS income. Rough eg: If you get 1000/month in SS, you will have to pay taxes on $850.
