Black Women In 2015, I made the leap from Kenya to Germany as an au pair, dreaming of starting my own business. I faced a lot of skepticism along the way. Some even told me to marry a German guy, thinking that would give me a leg up in building my company, and honestly, having a more German-sounding last name could open some doors.I didn’t take any of that advice, and I’m proud to say I built a company from the ground up in a foreign land, all while ignoring the usual expectations.
