Engine needs 3 things, spark, air, fuel. The ratio of the 3 determines power and performance. Turbo/supercharger give more air for larger combustion. An engines liter size is the combined volumetric of space in the block that combustion can be made. V4, V6, V8 and etc refer to the # of pistons in an engine block.
