Hey people of Threads… I need some guidance. When the name or pronunciation of a place that is used by native/indigenous people differs from the English/American, is it appropriate/acceptable for me as a non-native to use it? Examples of the top of my head: Aotearoa vs NZ, Guahan vs Guam, Dine’ vs Navajo. What is the most respectful path for me as a melanin-deficient person of Northern European descent?
