I watched Gladiator again a couple months ago and i literally said to myself “wait, they stole from Game of Thrones”. Ned is Maximus- good guy, not political, betrayed, loved. Commodus is Cercei+Joffrey-bad guy, incest, not loved, short sighted. Robert Baratheon, the true king wants Ned to be king after him untill his son is of age but he is Killed by “Commodus” and then Ned gets betrayed by “Commodus”. GOT is far more complex but Dune is the original i think with the Atredes being the Starks.
