Interesting... why without the filioque? My study of this was a while ago and entirely one sided. I've never dug deeper to find why anyone today would oppose it.

Because it creates an imbalance in the Holy Trinity. For any trait, it must either be common to all 3 Persons, or unique to one of them. Fatherhood to the Father. Begotteness to the Son. Procession to the Spirit. If proceeding from both Father and Son, it places the two above the one. It destroys the co-equality of the Trinity.
