As a Muslim, I know tattoos are considered haram, but at twenty, I was young, carefree and adamant about getting one. I told my then boyfriend that I wanted a cat tattoo. He was incredibly supportive. He even got me a book on cat breeds for the tattoo artist to use as inspiration to sketch a cat that captured my essence. So off I went to the artist’s shop in Perangin Mall with my friends, handed over the book and told him I’d be back the following week to see the sketch.
