Personally, I can definitely recommend living in Japan. But people thinking of moving here need to be aware that this is a particularly hard time to do it from an economic standpoint. You probably need to be prepared to have a very basic lifestyle. Basically, Japan has had stagnant wages for decades. But this wasn't a big problem for a long time, due to low inflation and even deflation. The combination of inflation and an unusually devalued yen has really changed that. (1/6)
