I was an 8 year old from a very small town in Nova Scotia, my eldest sister had married an American in New York 4 months earlier, my first trip to the U S, and I was fascinated by the glamorous First Family. I remember coming home from school wanting to watch Mr Dressup and The Friendly Giant but all that was on tv was the news. I can still feel the pain in my stomach when I heard the news.
